What are some benefits of granite

With the development of human civilization, granite mining and processing technology has also developed rapidly, and the market scale has continued to expand. It is foreseeable that in the future, whether it is geological prospecting, mining, production and processing, or construction, decoration, and daily necessities, granite will still have functions that other materials cannot replace.

Granite has the following advantages that are difficult to be replaced.

(1) Good stability

Granite is extremely hard in texture and extremely stable in chemical properties. Granite is not easy to produce elastic deformation and plastic deformation, and can maintain high precision under heavy load. Even after five or six years of high-frequency use, after the surface is scratched or collided, at most a few grains of gravel will be dropped. Deformation will not produce burrs.

(2) Easy to process

Although granite is hard, high surface roughness and precision can be easily obtained by sawing, grinding, polishing and cutting processes. Therefore, the processing equipment of granite is relatively simple, the processing cycle is relatively short, and the cost of processing the finished product is relatively low. Nevertheless, under the condition of clean surface, the wear resistance of granite is still ten times more than that of common cast iron parts.

After long-term exploration and experimentation, people have been able to make granite into a variety of surfaces such as polished, honed, flamed, bushhammered, waterjet, and sandblasted, which are difficult to be achieved with many other materials.

(3) Less affected by temperature

The linear expansion coefficient of high-quality granite at room temperature is only one-third of that of general metals, and the thermal conductivity is only one-fortieth of general metals. It is less affected by temperature, so you don't need to consider the impact of ambient temperature when using it. Moreover, under the condition of slowly changing indoor temperature, the deformation of granite is only one-tenth of steel and one-third of cast iron. Such characteristics make granite very suitable as a production material for high-precision measurement, processing equipment and other fields that have certain requirements for accuracy.

(4) Easy maintenance

Granite has strong anti-corrosion performance. It can resist the corrosion of general acid and alkaline gases and solutions without applying any anti-rust grease. There is no need to worry about rust when using it, nor the influence of environmental humidity.

(5) Good vibration absorption

The internal damping coefficient of granite is 15 times larger than that of steel. The larger the internal damping coefficient, the less likely it is to cause vibration under external force. Therefore, granite has the effect of shockproof and shock absorption.

(6) Good insulation

Granite has the characteristics of non-conductive, non-magnetic, and stable field position, which is very suitable to be used as a workbench for micro-EDM.

(7) Low price

Compared with other materials of the same dimension and the same finish, the price of granite is always lower. Moreover, because granite is resistant to weathering, corrosion, abrasion, and low water absorption, therefore granite reduces maintenance costs and prolongs service life.

In addition, granite is brittle, and only partially falls off after damage, and does not affect the overall straightness, so it is relatively easy to maintain.

(8) Low environmental pollution

Many materials, especially synthetic materials, are often accompanied by many by-products that have a certain impact on the human body, and even are toxic, and need to be replaced several times during the life of the building. As a natural stone, granite has no side effects.

(9) Good antibacterial property

Granite has the characteristics of high density, high hardness, and high-abrasive surface, which reduces the possibility of hiding dirt to a certain extent. As a cabinet countertop material, it undoubtedly has a good antibacterial effect.
